Our Story
In November of 2019, a small group of church leaders met together to discuss how best to serve our community. A very special lady in attendance, Debbie Parrish, voiced her longtime desire to help “moms and babies” stressing that she has always wanted these moms to know that they are NOT alone. At the same time, at the local church, Pastor Jason Lee was giving an inspirational Sunday morning series on evangelism.
Realizing that Manvel is “A City on the Rise” with many additional housing developments and people slated to move here in the next several years, these two themes merged into one question... “How can we help moms (and babies) during the most vulnerable time in her life while also being able to present The Gospel?”
This mission of compassionate ideas brought about a couple of practical outcomes: As a result, we decided: 1) To hold an annual "Diaper Day in May" benefitting local moms and babies, and 2) To open a Pregnancy Help Center in Manvel.
After a few more board meetings and fundraisers, Her Heart Pregnancy Help Center (HHPHC) was created as an 501c3 which soon became affiliated with Heartbeat International (HBI). HHPHC became the recipient of the Life Launch Grant through HBI which assists with new center start-ups.
One of the most exciting grants we received, before opening our doors, was from The Harry S. and Isabel C. Cameron Foundation which enabled us to purchase our first portable ultrasound machine.
We opened to the public on Feb 14, 2023, and have now served hundreds of women as we continue to reach out to the community. We are a caring and loving team placed here at HHPHC to provide compassionate and nonjudgmental support for anyone facing the possibility of a pregnancy-related crisis. All programs and services are free, confidential, culturally relevant, and ethnically diverse. We are very excited to see what "God-plans" are in the future for our moms-to-be as we help these women navigate their new babies/families.
